Readymade Frames
We frame with wood not the cheap contract Polymer type moulding.
This is all made on-site in our Chapel Allerton workshop and cover all the standard A sizes plus all the Imperial Sizes.
We typically stock Black – White – Oak readymade frames but do have selections of – Brown – Silver – Cream so if you’re trying to keep the budget down these are the best option as we can offer a retro fit for your art into a readymade frame. By cutting a mount to make it fit. This is a very popular option, and typically can be done same day.
Mount Styles
We have the technology to cut incredibly intricate mount styles.
See all the mocked up diagram’s in the link below. This should get your creative juices flowing. We really can produce the most fantastic of mounts to set your artwork off.
Glass
Choose conservation glass on your next framing project – offer 99% UV protection. ARTGLASS 99™ is your great choice for picture framing!
UV damage is cumulative and irreversible to framed artwork. The sunlight rays will react with the surface of an artwork or photograph, and change its chemical composition as it breaks down the bonds in the paper, dyes and pigments. The result is brittle paper and faded colours.
Protect what’s important!
This ARTGLASS™ product has the following features and benefits:
HELPS PREVENT TREASURED ITEMS FROM FADING
99% UV PROTECTION
CRISP IMAGE RESOLUTION
NO “ORANGE PEEL” EFFECT SURFACE DISTORTION
NEUTRAL COLOR FROM ALL ANGLES
MEETS REQUIREMENTS OF THE STANDARD ISO 18902
CONSERVATION GRADE GLASS ACCORDING TO PHOTOGRAPHIC ACTIVITY TEST (PAT) ISO 18916
FOLLOWS FINE ART TRADE GUILD AND PROFESSIONAL PICTURE FRAMERS ASSOCIATION STANDARDS
99% CONSERVATION LEVEL UV BLOCK IS CERTIFIED BY NATIONAL PHYSICAL LABORATORY IN UK ACCORDING TO EN 410
Choosing the best glass is paramount, but we do offer standard float glass which is used in 50% of all our framing jobs. We also offer ART-Glass with 70% UV Protection and Museum ART-Glass with 99% UV Protection, together with Acrylic Plastic glazing & Diffused Glass.
If you want to protect your artwork and get the best colour’s emanating out of it together with almost invisible reflection, then choose ARTGLASS. The UV protection is one of the best things that you cannot see but we have all had photos that get bleached our over the years. It also work quite brilliantly with B&W art/posters/photos. The blacks seem much deeper.
Standard Glass
This offers no UV protection and the reflection control is bad when in much brighter rooms, you will see the reflections in harsh lighting conditions, making it more difficult to see the image, especially larger poster type prints.
Non Reflective Glass
This is etched on one side and dulls the image behind it. The flat non reflective surface does not bring out the best of any art as pale or low contrast images are not helped by this glass. Anything with detail in it dramatically dulls the detail.
Ultra Violet (UV) Protection Glass
This is the first level of glass to offer protection to your image. This glass does not degrade or delaminate over time and will stop your images fading. Brilliant where reflection control is not an issue but artwork protection is. It offers 99% UV protection with its one side UV coating.
Plastic Glass / Acrylic (Shatterproof)
This is now a more expensive option than glass, but can be beneficial when you want to transport a frame or protect children if framed work is in the bedroom. It is slightly lighter than normal glass.
For – Schools – Public Places – Hospitals where health and safety is an issue it is perfect. The only downside is it scratches easily.
Frame Moulding Selection
We have listed many hundreds of frame mouldings which you will not find on any website. Use our search bar to look for colours-finishes-types of wood etc. We do carry a lot of stock in our workshops in Chapel Allerton, but if the moulding is not in stock with us we typically can order in within 2-3 days.
